Originally established in 1975 by Dr. Glenn McDowell, Bayville Veterinary Hospital has served pet owners in Bayville and the surrounding areas for over 40 years. Our main focus is to work with you to provide quality veterinary care for your pet at the best value possible. This has helped foster a strong relationship between our hospital and the community which results in our pets staying as healthy and as happy as possible
Our veterinarians and their team offer their wealth of experience in veterinary care for both healthy animals, in order to keep them that way, and for sick animals who need treatment with care and compassion. We treat our clients' animals the way we would want our animals treated.
Dr. McDowell received his degree as veterinary medical doctor from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971. He began his own veterinary practice in 1975 and named it Bayville Veterinary Hospital. Since then he has cared for four decades of pets! He and his wife Barbara have four daughters and over the years have had many pets including several cats, a cockatiel, a chinchilla, three guinea pigs, two hamsters, two English Setters, and a Westie! In his spare time, he enjoys baking bread, woodworking, reading, and gardening. He also especially enjoys visiting his daughters and his five grandchildren!
Dr. Brianna joined Bayville Veterinary Hospital in 2015. Daughter of Dr. Glenn McDowell, she is excited about fulfilling her dream of joining the family practice and continuing to care for the area's pets for the next generation. Brianna graduated in 2014 from the prestigious Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. She then returned to New Jersey and completed an Internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls. Her time was spent between working up difficult cases on a referral basis as well as dealing with emergencies and critical care patients. Having experienced the latest techniques and advances in veterinary medicine, she brings her expertise to the practice.
Dr. Lenton was born and raised near Liverpool, England. In 2007, he received a Masters degree in Physics and then received his veterinary degree in 2014 from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland. He then worked at a busy small animal practice in North New Jersey for almost 3 years before joining Bayville Veterinary Hospital in 2017.
Karen is a Certified Veterinary Technician and joined the Bayville Veterinary Hospital team in 1986. (That's not a typo - that's '86.) She graduated from Ocean County College and went on to graduate from the University of Maine at Orono with a Veterinary Technician degree. Her care for animals started at home when there were always multiple pets in the house. At the moment she has three cats (Kippy, Beetle, and Drake.) She is a member of the New Jersey Veterinary Technician and Assistants and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America which both encourage continuing education. When she's not at work, she volunteers her time with her nephews' scout troop in Bayville. She has become a gamer, thanks to her nephews, but will also get out to play some mini-golf on occasion.
Jamie has been at Bayville Veterinary Hospital since 2012. She is a veterinary technician proudly taking care of your fur babies by taking patient history in exam rooms, performing lab work, venipuncture, and assisting in reception when necessary. She has four cats (Zoe, Sigmund, Oreo and Phoebe), and a King Shepherd named Dargo. She is also married to her high school sweetheart. Her hobbies outside of Bayville Veterinary Hospital include photography, soap-making, and hiking.
Tara has been at Bayville Veterinary Hospital since 2012. She has five cats (Riley, Bella, Sassy, Skye & Layla), two dogs (Frankie & Mags) and two rabbits (Kabuki & Mocha). She can be found assisting clients in reception as well assisting the veterinarian and technicians in the exam and treatment areas of the hospital. She is currently pursuing a degree in veterinary technology in hopes of one day becoming a certified veterinary technician. When Tara is not tending to sick animals at the Bayville Veterinary Hospital, she enjoys watching football, playing tennis, and practicing her archery skills.
Ruth is the Office Manager and has worked here since 1990, having been a client since 1984! As a member of Animal Birth Control, in her spare time she helps out with feeding and raising the orphaned kittens that are rescued.
